We have missed the train

Information age came and we were not ready to jump on the train because of the current education system. We need a new computer curriculum for our primary and secondary schools.

The current content is out dated and is not going to create the modern mind required to sustain this age of technology.

State of Computing in our country

  • Schools and colleges currently follows their own obsolescent curriculum.
  • Majors offer in secondary classes .i.e. 9th and 10th grades are outdated.
  • Course materials and books are no longer relevant in this era of computer science.
  • We Do not promote computational thinking or creativity. Use old technologies.
  • Universities are not getting quality students. Industry is not getting the right staff.

Schools and Colleges in Pakistan do not teach computing, and computer programming. Computing should be taught like physics, chemistry and maths as a foundational subject.

Every student in every school should have an equal opportunity to learn computer science as a discrete discipline.

Train the teachers

Computing is a fundamental part of our daily life

So we at FOCUS, feel the need to educate our children about computing, which comprises of computer science, information technology, and digital literacy

Computer science

The study of experimentation, and engineering that form the basis for the design and use of computers.

Information technology

The use of computer software and producing high quality of digital contents.

Digital literacy

Dl is the set of competencies required for full participation in a knowledge society. It includes knowledge, skills, and behaviors involving the effective use of digital devices

What is computing?

“Computational thinking is the process of recognizing aspects of information and computation in the world that surrounds us, and apply tools and techniques from computing to understand and reason about both natural and artificial systems and processes.”--

Computational thinking is something we do, not something computers do, like:

  • When problems arises how computers can help?
  • We think about the steps needed to solve a problem.
  • Then, we use our technical skills to get the computer working on the problem.

This way thinking processes and approaches that help with computing are really useful in many other domains. Our goal at FOCUS, is to enable young children and adults to think logically, critically and to be problem solver.

New Curriculum And Trainded Teachers

World over computing is being taught and new curriculums designed. For this purpose the need for trained teachers who teach computing is of paramount importance.
